Our favorite swamp is named after the beloved pirate Jean Lafitte, who was a very successful pirate/ privateer in the early 1800's. We have just come to learn that there is no historical evidence pointing to him ever having lived in the town now named for him, but also no evidence disputing that... So we are going to go with he definitely lived there!
